New Delhi:Delhi Police detained senior opposition MPs, including the Congress' Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Monday morning as a stormy public protest over the Election Commission's neutrality spilled over into the streets of central Delhi.
Visuals from the protest site outside the Parliament building showed a teeming mass of politicians and party workers, many sitting on the roads, and others waving flags and banners, shouting slogans, and shoving and pushing back against the cops and their barricades.

The police responded by blockading roads around Parliament, setting up barricades (that aggressive protestors tried to climb), and deploying large numbers of security personnel to gherao a small army of hundreds, including opposition politicians and party workers.
